  • My first time here. I was craving Hakka and then tried this place randomly. The food was good. Definitely satisfied my hunger and the portions were quite generous. The server was very fast and courteous. Overall very satisfied with my experience.

  • I visited Hakka No 1 and was delighted by their affordable and delicious dishes. The restaurant looked rather dated, with its name in large, bold characters. What stood out to me was that they had LLBO dine-in and offered takeout. Their phone number was prominent as well. Inside looked just as dated, with plenty of seats but overall dim lighting. The red seats did not even stand out. We decided to dine in. The menu indicated that a 13% tip would be added automatically for dine-ins. It certainly had a lot to offer, with menu item numbers going above 230. Here's what I tried: #01 Chicken Pakora: A great choice on our part, 10 large pieces of breaded chicken were served with a lemon wedge and chilli mayo. They were red, which I found striking. I enjoyed the taste of mildly spicy chicken. The sauce was okay, but I mostly enjoyed the chicken without it. #22 Hot and Sour Soup with Seafood: I wasn't a big fan of this famous Chinese appetizer. It had all the right ingredients, but it was a bit too sour for my taste. #75 Manchurian Beef with Gravy: I loved this dish. The spicy beef strips were tender and juicy. The sauce was hot and savoury, and it went well with steamed rice that we ordered. #169 Chicken Ho-Fun: Another great choice, this rice-noodle stir fry dish was mild and had many tender chicken strips to fill me up. There was only one person serving, but there was no one else dining, so her checking in on us every now and then was more than good enough for us in terms of service. The table and some eating utensils were sticky, showing age. Disposable chopsticks were available upon request, which was nice. The washroom was serviceable but not clean. Despite some of the flaws I found in the restaurant, their dishes tasted good. I was surprised to see how affordable the food was. Given this, I would recommend getting takeout from this restaurant for its great value. I might actually return to try some of their other dishes to go.

  • Food is good for the price/portion. You will be stuffed aftet an individual combo that comes with a spring roll. So far have had the chili beef, general tao, crispy ginger beef, chilli beef, hakka noodle and fried rice. All are good. You can ask for extra spicy which is what I do and they will throw some nice hot peppers in. I usually take out and go back to work have not dined in but looks empty whenever Im there.

  • Our first time to this decent restaurant. Server Jane was professional and service was excellent. The food quality is very good with ample amount per dish. Spice level was okay while the dishes were served quickly. We enjoyed the lunch while restaurant was not busy so our group could easily talk and laugh without awkwardness. Over all experience was good except they do not carry coffee mug while drinking warm water with lemon in plastic glasses was weird feeling!!! We requested them to arrange coffee mugs for next visit
